Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team as appropriate about changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment.
Reports to: Director of Emergency Services
Performs head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy.
Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific for the patient’s age.
Formulates, implements, and revises the patient’s plan of care based on the patient’s diagnosis and clinical symptoms.
Assists physicians with procedures and performs services requiring technical and manual skills.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of errors.
Coordinates and supervises patient care.
Meets current documentation standards and policies.
Identifies and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of the patients and their families.
Communicates clearly and professionally with all members of the health care team.
Notifies physicians in a timely manner of changes in the patient’s condition and response to treatment.
Maintains a good working relationship and treats others with respect within the department and with all other hospital departments.
Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.
Follows all evidence-based medicine and core measures as supported by Maria Parham Health.
Associates degree in nursing is required.
A current North Carolina or compact stated Registered Nurse (RN) license is required upon hire.
Handle with Care (HWC) is required within 6 months of hire.
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Minimum Work Experience
1 year of experience in a health care setting is preferred.
